Trailer Jive: DRACULA UNTOLD

I never really looked into the story of Vlad the Impaler.  I just knew like most people that he seemed to be a bad dude in the annals of history, with all the impaling and everything.  And that the myth of Dracula was based on him.  But recently I did hear that Vlad's more famous acts of violence were attributed to his love for his son when he was taken away.  DRACULA UNTOLD seems to be a retelling of how Dracula came to be with more historical facts blended in.  The trailer looks pretty decent. It does play a little long though.  Luke Evans looks cool in this role also.  Look for the film in October.

THE LEGEND OF KORRA: BOOK 3 OFFICIAL TRAILER

Turn those frowns upside down all you Legend of Korra fans. The new trailer is here! And it is just as good as the fan trailer made by Bigby Wolf that came out a few days ago. Unfortunately, that one isn't up anymore so you can't compare. Thanks to him Nick gave us an early view of the show.  Watch and hopefully enjoy this OFFICIAL one and maybe you will see a familiar face from the past.  This season or book is called Change, but who or what will change in this elemental bending universe?



Also, if you want to spoil yourself, episode 3 through 6 were leaked and can be found on the internet somewhere. I'm not telling. Hehe!

The 3rd Marvel Film No One Is Talking About - BIG HERO SIX

I know you guys love your Marvel Movies!  And everybody went crazy over CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.  I'm sure the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY isn't going to disappoint audiences either.

Marvel said they were going to produce two superhero films a year.  But Marvel is owned by Disney, and Disney didn't pay 4 Billion Dollars to just come out with a few Superheroes a year.  They own rights to 5,000 Marvel characters. The story potential is virtually unlimited.

Even though we are getting two Marvel live action films this year, we are actually getting three films altogether - BIG HERO 6. A 3-D animated film based on a Marvel comic (see below).  The Disney rendition won't be as serious a story as the comic I'm sure. But it might be a fun ride for the family.  Check out the trailer below. But don't pay attention to the end premiere date, the film is coming out this Fall.





THE BIG HERO SIX COMIC, created in 1998 by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau. These are the same guys behind Ben 10 and other successful animated properties.

Look at NBC Trying To Actually Get CONSTANTINE Right!

We're already getting previews of new shows for the fall.  And I have to say that this is not a bad start.  The Keanu Reeves' Constantine left fans of the comic a little sour.  I personally liked it to a certain extent, but what do I know?  I haven't taken the chance to read any Hellblazer stories really.  I do know this though, a brunette haired American talking Constantine is a big No No.  On the other hand, for the good guy that treads the lines between Heaven, Earth and Hell, it looks like they got more than the hair color and dialect right.

Matt Ryan is Constantine, the rough edged London anti-hero that just can't let evil spirits do their evil things.  Harold Perrineau is Manny, an angel and maybe voice of reason.  Lucy Griffiths plays Liv, the young woman that is suddenly drawn into Constantine's world.  For those of you geeks out there that know the stories, tell me if this Fall 2014 series looks promising by the trailer:

NBC's CROSSBONES - Not Your Funny Disney Pirates!

When I heard about this show coming to NBC I wasn't sure what the tone would be. Was NBC going to run with the same style and comedy of the Disney franchise PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN?  Or was it going to be something a little more dramatic and serious?  Well, I don't think serious begins to describe the flavor of this high seas adventure starring John Malkovich as Blackbeard.  He may not be represented as the historical figure that you know, but he lookes like a ruthless and calculating leader in this series.  And he's somebody that Tom Lowe (Richard Coyle) has been assigned to assassinate by his superiors England.  From the trailer you can see that there is going to be a cat and mouse game between those two and all the other characters of the show. And who is the sister with the sword?  She's Tracy Ifeachor playing Nenna and she looks like she'll be around for a minute according to imdb.




I have one question for you guys that are reading this though.  Have you seen BLACK SAILS on the Starz cable network?  Because I'm going to tell ya, the premise of CROSSBONES is very very close to the plot of the Starz series.  I wonder who really started developing their projects first?  And BLACK SAILS was a pretty good show for its first season. So comparatively, CROSSBONES has something to prove. On the other hand, the fact that it's going to air on NBC, and I don't think that many people watched the Starz series, probably means it won't have much competition in the area of pirate shows.
Look for it Friday, May 30th at 10pm est.

Trailer Jive: LUCY (2014)

Drug Mule turned Mutant Baby Phoenix. I'm totally down.  And with Luc Blesson (Fifth Element) writing and directing, and Scarlett Johansson playing a chemically evolved being, you can expect something interesting for sure.  Morgan Freeman has a cool role of a scientist researching how to open up human brain potential. 


And to cap it off, Min-sik Choi is one of the apparent villains. You may know him as Oldboy!  Not everybody likes all of Blesson's films, but nobody can argue that they are boring.  Telekinesis and Drug Lords - winning combination.  Watch for it this summer.

THE PURGE: ANARCHY Theatrical Trailer

The first Purge film was so-so.  It had an interesting premise, but I wanted to see more of what this anarchist world was like.  Well, THE PURGE: ANARCHY seems like it will deliver more of that world from several points of view.
As you'll see in the trailer, this is not an annual event you want to be a part of.  Even you that think this would be your kind of night would have a hard time dealing with what might be around the corner.  From the looks, I think this sequel will be better than the first one.  Look for it this summer in July.

Second Trailer for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

This second trailer leave me with a better feeling than the first.  Not that I hated the first one, but there was something about it that didn't give me that "Oh, Cool" feeling.  I'm still only 80% convinced that Bryan Singer is bringing the magic.  His first two X-Men films were great, but Singer can make some boo boos too (Superman Returns, ahem). 

To tell the truth, I'm more concerned about Fox having stuck their non-geek hands into the production.  By far, this trailer is something to enjoy more than be doubtful about.  I see that they definitely took some things directly from the comic - Uncanny X-Men 141-142.  I'm talking about the 1 second clip with Storm at the beginning.  Check the pic below.



X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST comes out May 22nd of this year.  I'll be there.  And I'll be pissed if they don't include an After-Credit scene that gives a clue about Apocalypse.

Trailer Jive: THE SIGNAL (2014)

So what I got from the trailer is that there is a signal. No, THE SIGNAL.  And a kid can hear it. He's one of the few people that can. And Fishburne doesn't exactly know what it means. But he knows enough to be in an environmental suit while interviewing the kid.  Also, there maybe some dragonball type psionics involved.

Actually, I like this kind of ambiguous type of science fiction sometimes.  But they aren't for everyone.  Look for it in theaters this June 2014.

French Animated Scifi feature - THE CONGRESS

There's a serious science fiction message in this trailer / film that could be science fact in a few decades.  Will we have to copyright our own brain patterns in the future to stop companies from 'owning' a digital copy of us?  Think about it.  But the trailer also looks like it's going to be an interesting film.

THE CONGRESS gets a limited release this June, but it originally opened in Europe last year.  It's based on a book by Stanislaw Lem - The Futurological Congress. He also wrote Solaris. What do you think? Does this Live Action / Animated film look interesting to you?
